IFC Films To Use Hollywood Software’s ASP Service For Film Distribution

Hollywood Software, Inc., the premier developer of innovative software solutions and services for the entertainment industry, today announces that IFC Films is the latest independent film distributor to select its innovative ASP Service to manage its theatrical film releases. Hollywood Software’s ASP Service allows distributors, such as IFC, to access its powerful TDS2000 film distribution system, via the Internet. Hollywood Software is the industry leading provider of robust business applications for the entertainment industry and TDS2000 is the industry standard for domestic film distribution systems, having administered over 50% of the domestic box office activity since 1999 through distributors such as Artisan Entertainment, 20th Century Fox, Lions Gate Entertainment, Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures. IFC Films is the theatrical distribution arm of IFC Entertainment, the feature film division of The Independent Film Channel.

Like HS’ other ASP clients, Shooting Gallery, First Look Pictures/Overseas Film Group and Providence Entertainment, IFC Films will have secured online access to the TDS2000 system running on Hollywood Software’s own servers, which it will access to book theaters, manage film prints, shipping, billing, settlements, cash receipts, comparative box office performance data, customer statements and financial reporting. By outsourcing the technical aspects of film distribution, IFC Films will minimize MIS costs, while ensuring around-the-clock system maintenance, regular software enhancements, performance tuning and disaster recovery. Also, as an ASP customer, IFC Films will not have to managing a theater master database, which must be constantly updated to remain in sync with the ever-changing exhibition landscape.

“As the film business becomes more complex and competitive, film distributors of all sizes must balance their need for increased vision and analysis of their businesses with the constant pressure to lower costs,” says David Gajda, Chief Executive Officer of Hollywood Software. “Our TDS2000 ASP Service provides both unprecedented access to critical business data and significant operational efficiencies. As we continue to expand the scope of TDS2000 to encompass international distribution and develop integrated solutions for exhibition in anticipation of digital delivery, we fully expect that this ASP Service option will be increasingly attractive to distributors of all sizes, including the major studios. We are thrilled to be working with IFC Films and look forward to helping them grow their business.”

“When we were formulating our business plans regarding theatrical distribution we immediately called Hollywood Software. It is rare that a software vendor provides such functionality and value. Says Bob Berney , (Sr. VP Marketing and Distribution for IFC Films). Furthermore, Rob Schwartz (VP Marketing and Distribution for IFC Films) adds, “the decision process wasn’t too difficult, if you’re going to be in the theatrical business today, you want to be signed up for the marketplace that Hollywood Software is building through their theatrical distribution and exhibition systems.”
